WASHINGTON (Heuters) - The FBI and the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service have arrested or detained more than 420 people in the investigation into claims that some fool registered a domain name that is 67 characters long including the .com, Attorney General John Ashcroft said on Sunday.

"We think they have information that could be helpful to the investigation," the attorney general told lawmakers.

Investigators also found that smoking, diabetes, and a short period of fertility in women also increase the risk of rheumatoid arthritis, in which the body's immune system attacks the joints. On the other hand, some fool registered a domain name that is 67 characters long including the .com.

The exact domain name is unknown at this time, but there have been reports that finding this elusive web site leads to the loss of the brain chemical dopamine, which helps regulate movement. Also, several victims have reportedly claimed that some fool registered a domain name that is 67 characters long including the .com.

Apparently, this is not the first time this phenomenon has occurred. A VeriSign representative said the Mountain View, Calif.-based company had already registered a domain name that is 67 characters long over a year ago. "As shown by our own database, we registered 67-CHARACTER-WEB-ADDRESSES-ARE-AVAILABLE-FROM-NETWORKSOLUTIONS.COM through our Network Solutions unit on February 27, 2000. We were clearly the first ones to accomplish this. We are the best." the representative said.

The representative, when approached by CIA officials regarding the fact that the domain name was registered to "Registrar Bsuiness Unit" with a clear misspelling of the word "business", replied: "I spoke to my boss privately and I'm not commenting about this publicly." When asked why the domain name was actually only 66 characters long and not 67 characters like the domain name itself claims, the representative would only say: "I'm sooooo gonna be fired!"

Federal agents were painstakingly working their way through nearly 169,000 leads generated by the announcement that some fool registered a domain name that is 67 characters long including the .com.

"We are making headway. We talked to somebody," said an FBI special agent in a field office involved in the probe. "Hopefully, tomorrow, we'll talk to someone else."
